Päivi Räsänen, who has been under fire because of her traditional view on marriage and sexuality, pointed out that "heavy hatred for Christian values" in Western society has been growing.

"Nothing has changed in my faith and my conviction. But suddenly, I was like a criminal because of this hate," she said at the annual International Religious Freedom Summit in Washington D.C. That is reported by Christian Post. Räsänen recently had to appear before the court because of her statements that marriage is meant for one man and one woman. She was accused and acquitted of hate speech, but the prosecutor has decided to go into appeal. Thus, the case is still ongoing.

That the world with its growing anti-Christian sentiments is changing so fast is alarming, says Räsänen. She calls Christians to open their eyes and see what is going on. Furthermore, she warns that the anti-Christian climate in the Western world can lead Christians to remain silent and censor themselves to be accepted by society. "I feel a great responsibility because I am aware that this case is historic for freedom of speech and freedom of religion", Räsänen said. "Obvious Christians sticking to the Bible's teachings have the right to participate in public debate."

The hatred and intolerance for Christian values are seen all over the world, the Finnish politician noted, according to Christian Daily. She attributes her persecution to Finland becoming a "post-Christian world in which Christian values are a minority."
