New Protestant TV channel in Russia
Eastern Europe
A pastor of the Russian United Union of Evangelical Christians (ROSHVE) will launch a new Protestant TV channel in Russia. The program will be called “Good News.” The website goes online in August, and broadcasting should start in November.
Pastor Rick Renner says to Satis that the program is currently being registered as a media outlet and that the first programs are in the making.
Earlier, Sergei Ryakhovsky, the ruling bishop of the Union of Evangelical Christians, announced that the Union had taken over a TV program that would be broadcast in 86 countries. Its goal was to focus on family values, the bishop then said, according to Inlight News. “This will be a channel where the most powerful moral family human values will be broadcast”, the bishop then stated.
Disagreement over Russian invasion Ukraine
The reporting does not speak about any political direction. But it is known that the Protestant community in Russia is very much split over the Ukraine issue. Especially the Pentecostal movement –of which Mr Ryakhovsky is the leader– is quite patriotic and committed to the current President Putin.
