Yevhen Bilotserkivskyi, the Baptist pastor of the Salvation church in Kupyansk-Vuzlovy, was killed when his hometown in the region of Kharkiv was hit by shelling. He died at the age of 41.
Pastor Bilotserkivskyi was working outside on his farm on Sunday when a shell fragment hit his heart. That is reported by Baptyst.com. At the moment, the town of Kupyansk-Vuzlovy is suffering under heavy shelling.
Despite the dangers of the war, ministers are still trying to find opportunities to gather with their congregation. When the city was occupied, Biloserkivskyi's congregation merged with the Evangelical community of the Kupyansk-Vuzlovy settlement.
Bilotserkivskyi had been a pastor since 2019 when he was ordained to the presbyterial ministry. He was supposed to become the head of a church region had the Russo-Ukrainian war not broken out.
The pastor was married and had two sons and a daughter.
Bilotserkivskyi is not the first Evangelical pastor who dies in the war. In April, it became known that Vitaly Vinogradov was among the victims of the massacre in Bucha. He was dean of Kyiv Slavic Evangelical Seminary.
