A need for rapid and decisive change makes it necessary to increase investments in renewable energy, Pope Francis said. He did so during a meeting with young economists.

“Be role models for us”, the Pope told the young economists belonging to the international movement “The Economy of Francesco” last Saturday. The head of the Vatican founded the movement in 2019, intending to create a more inclusive and humane economy, as reported by Vart Land. Young people from around the world came to Assisi on Saturday to discuss the future.

Pope Francis encouraged the movement to turn away from fossil fuels, such as oil, coal and gas. “The world is on fire today”, he said. “Today, we must change something at all levels.” Furthermore, he called for sacrifice to find a more sustainable lifestyle. “If we do not do it, our children and grandchildren will have to pay for it.”
