Italian minister signs pact to combat anti-Semitism in schools

That is reported by the European Jewish Congress, based on an announcement by the Ministry of Education and Merit. Valditara signed the “memorandum of intent” with the Italian Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI) at the Remah Synagogue in Krakow. The UCEI ratifies the collaboration to promote initiatives in Italian schools against anti-Semitism.

The Italian minister stressed the importance of remembering the Holocaust. “The real risk is that we eventually get used to it”, he warned. According to him, in some countries, up to 20 per cent of the students do not even know what the Holocaust is. He also points out that anti-Semitism is on the rise in Europe. “It means that we have not worked enough with our consciences.”
