Berdine Zwanepol has the disease Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which causes her to break her bones quickly makes her sit in a wheelchair. She is regularly being told how special it is that she lives and works independently.

She wants people to look beyond her physical disability and not treat her as 'different'. Caroline Schimmel meets her at the school where she works and listens to a song Berdine wrote with a colleague.
