The Serbian authorities are working on an initiative that classifies child marriage as human trafficking.

Religious and politically conservative Serbians demand the replacement of schoolbooks that “promote LGBT ideology.” They started a formal review that could lead to a textbook ban in schools.

For decades, much of Serbia’s religious education has been headed by the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC). Now, the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia (HCHRS) wants to see that stopped as well as all school subjects that deal with “faith science.”

The pan-European EuroPride Week started in Belgrade, Serbia, on Monday. However, a day later, the Serbian government officially banned the event.
