The Russian military burned down a church building of the Ukrainian Baptists in the town of Vovchoyarivka in the Luhansk region.

At the beginning of the war, the invaders confiscated the Church of the Nativity to house soldiers, the Baptist denomination of Ukraine writes on Facebook. “They then robbed it and burned it.” Pictures show a blackened building with a collapsed roof.

The congregation bought the church building in 1999 with the support of German believers. Local residents restored it.

The Church of the Nativity was founded in the late 90s and grew rapidly as the town of Vovchoyarivka got more inhabitants. Within five years, the congregation grew to 40 members, Slovoproslovo reports.

The church building was used to house immigrants, organise various church meetings and function as a sanctuary.
