Right-wing French politician Eric Zemmour sees a difference between refugees of Ukrainian origin and those with an Arab or Muslim background. “Yes to white Christian immigration, no to Arab Muslim immigration.”

Zemmour said during an interview with BFMTV that Ukrainians who “have ties to France or family in France” will receive visas. Furthermore, he stated that “freedom fighters” should get a permit to stay in France.

The right-wing politician added that, although he favours Ukrainian immigration, he still opposes the reception of Muslim refugees. According to Zemmour, Ukrainians will assimilate with the French more easily than immigrants from the Middle East. “We feel close to them because they are Europeans and because they are Christians”, Valeurs cites him.

Furthermore, Zemmour warned against sanctions that could “turn against the French." According to him, a Ukrainian entry to the European Union could be seen as an “act of war” against Russia.
